Iran, Germany to boost banking cooperation

TEHRAN, Jul. 22 (MNA) – Paying a visit to Central Bank of Iran, German Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel has called on development of Tehran-Berlin banking and financial cooperation.

Leading a high-ranking delegation of economy and trade figures, Gabriel held a meeting with Head of CBI Valiollah Seyf yesterday.

Seyf, while describing Germany as Iran’s most trusted economic partner, asserted that Iran is looking for revival of its economic relations with Berlin to the pre-sanction level.

“Iran is the gate for Germany in the region and Berlin could serve as the EU entrance for Iran,” he said.

Underlining the need to develop joint committee activities, Iranian official announced that first session of the committee would be held in September 2015.

German deputy to chancellor, for his part, stressed the development of economic ties and said “we are seeking reinforcing the financial and banking ties with Iran and we have brought the representatives of best German companies to Tehran.”

“We are hopeful of reestablishing banking relations of Tehran and Berlin immediately after removal of sanctions," added he.
